The local Pheasants Forever Chapter here in my area is having a Sporting Clays fund raising shot in May .We ask if we could post a flyer with info about the shoot in the Dick's store that is closest to where we are having the shoot. The answer was no; it is against company policy . Since they sell shotgun shells that seems like a bad business policy to me.

I'll give you a hint........ It has something to do with the name of the store chain.

Soo ....... did you change the event to a mini golf tournament ??

Their name is appropriate.

To answer your basic question... Yes, I think their decision is bad for their business.

If I am in the business of selling ammunition then allowing people to advertise lawful events that involve the consumption of ammunition should be a no-brainer.

If it were my business I might even get crazy and post the flyer in the area where I stock shotgun shells...

Might even offer a small discount to members of Pheasants Forever who show their membership card at the register.

I know... I'm an anarchist.

Scuba I like your idea. Maybe you should be the chairman of a committee to develop a new method of hunting all flying birds .

Would they not allow your flyer for some reason, or is it their policy to not post any flyers?

If so, that's understandable... But I still feel it's a poor practice from a retail standpoint.

Whether it's a golf scramble or a trap shoot I would advertise events that use the products I sell.

I think Dick's sells guns as a sideline, they seem to be mostly an upper class yuppie store for anti's around here.

I can see their side of it, if they don't allow any flyers. Think of all potential flyers that could be posted if they allow them all, and think of the lawsuits if they try to pick and choose who's flyers are allowed.

I'd add a line on the flyer......"since Dicks would NOT allow posting this, they must not want your ammo sales."...and go to every other gun shop in a 40 mile radius.

Dicks needs to be boycotted in the same manner that Smith & Wesson was boycotted when they made the Clinton agreement involving "smart guns" and other anti-gun concessions in 2000. The boycott almost put S&W out of business, the CEO got kicked out, the company sold for a small fraction of what it had been purchased for, and the smart gun plan was tossed as well as the rest of the Clinton deal. S&W is now a thriving company again serving the needs of their customers, not catering to the agenda of some ultra liberal anti-gun politicians. Money talks and none of my money will be going to Dicks as long as they continue with this new policy.

They seem to be a store for soccer moms with rich husbands. I doubt their guns and ammo sales count for much more than a very small percentage of their profit.

I can not think of one reason why any of us on here would ever want or need to go back to Dick's. Their name fits well!

you didn't want anyone who frequents that store at your shoot anyway , try the grocery stores , hardware store , real gun shops, any place that does deer processing.
