Put my 4 wheeler on there for sale. With in minutes, I get 3 texts wanting me to email them if it's still available. All from far away area codes. Similar email addresses too, a guys name followed by several mics numbers and letters.

Sounds about like what happened to me a while back. Put my truck on there and within an hour I had "some guy" in Florida offer me a $1000 more than what I was asking for it without even seeing the truck. It sounded too good to be true.

They are selling your verified email address to marketers.

I have had that happen too.Some guy from far away wanted my account info and was going to send me funds for a Troybuilt tiller unseen. Was going to send somebody to come pick up,lol.Been seeing alot of newer vehicles listed for $2000 too,I just pass right on by them.

they will claim that they dont have the time to come look at it and will send a "certified" bank check that will clear in a day or two, and they will send a guy to come pick it up. I always tell them to send cash with your guy and he can take it, then they claim they have bad experiences dealing in cash. Obviously the check will be the fraud, evidently they are successful at this scam at some rate anyway. sad

If you tell them it's still available the will tell you the want it and so I send someone with a certified check to pick it up. I am sure it's a scam. They don't even know what their buying.

I played one of those scammers once. What they do is send you a fake check, you give them the goods through a third party deliverer, they get the product, then you get in big trouble when you try to deposit the check. It's very obvious (the check they sent was full of grammar mistakes and claimed to be from Geico), but apparently some people fall for it.

Wow! Makes one wonder if you should ever use Craig's List to sell anything?

Money in hand or bank cleared is best policy.

Cash ONLY. Don't put your cell number on the listing either. I only do email with specific instructions of what must me in the body of the email they send me.

Lots of scammers but easy to spot and weed them out.

They will also send the $ with a 3rd party that will tell you all he has is a check FOR MORE THAN THE DEAL! They will then tell you to give them cash for the extra, and it and the goods head off down the road!

When you post on craigs don’t put your number in like normal. Say 123 456 7890. Put one 2 three- 4 five 6 - seven 8 nine 0

This is what happened to me .I gave the check to the Bank to check out. Very clearly a fraud case.

If they live between the two it might not be a scam, just listing in two locations. When I sell I’ll list in grand forks and Fargo. But if they ever wanna do a third party bs or the price is like 2432 for something that’s obviously worth way more, those sr railways scams.

I keep getting a text from “Michael cole” wanting me to install a fireplace and wants to know if I accept credit cards. He can’t talk on the phone though because he’s recouping from ear surgery lol. 3 different numbers texted me with the same exact text

Had fun with one of these jokers. Had them send the check and then played with him/her for 4 days. Kept giving them excuses why I couldn't get to the bank while I visited the police and the bank. They eventually gave up. Cops said nothing they could do. Cash or no deal. I sell many things there now. I won't use my private email anymore.
