We seldom get high dollar coyotes in Michigan

man troy you got every color in the rainbow! you come here to trap get used to that second pic we got ugly orange yotes and we got more ugly orange yotes so take your pick! I wish this was mine but someone in Illinois caught them

These were my two favorite Nebraska dogs of the year. I really probably should have tanned the second one. Probably one of the bigger coyotes I've caught in our area. Funny thing is they were both males,both caught in the same trap, and both were within a half a mile of town.

Here's a heavy furred Dec 30th coyote,it was -30 that morning.

Bottom male chewed out of 5/64 cable and recaught him 70 yards down the trail .thank God

Only reason this one is special is that my neighbor is having a full body mount done for his game room.

I didn't take pictures of the ones I caught, at least when they were alive, and the pictures I got of dead ones aren't very good, but this is one my dad shot and I skinned a couple days ago. He's in the freezer now since he looked like he had pretty good fur for a late March coyote.
I like this one since it looks like it got a leg shot off. (I say shot off because there was a bone growth on his other leg at about the same level, which to me indicated he'd likely been shot, rather than trapped.)

The 3 leggers I've killed all seem nice and healthy. Just a minor inconvenience for a coyote!

I've seen the anti trappers report about how they "rescued" a coyote that was trapped and had to put it down because its foot was too badly damaged to salvage. It shows how little they know about a coyote's ability to survive "inconveniences" like a lost leg.

I trapped a female with her hole hind leg gone from first the leg joint, she had 4 placenta scars. True survivors!!

I caught some of the largest males I have ever caught this year, this one was the last of a pack of three that I have been after for a while.

This was one of his running buddies. That hind leg was atrophied into that position, very little muscle, no sign of a break. The foot was all there, just undersized with hair almost 3 inches long growing between the toes. Last spring while we were gathering cattle about 3 miles from where I caught him, we jumped a coyote and a couple of the guys took after him and almost got him roped, They said it was three legged, probably the same one.

Almost looks alive but he is frozen stiff...twenty five below that morning.

John, he was an adult but not ancient. Kinda small, but in good shape.

Don't know if it is normal for a big male to let another adult male hang around with his lady friend. Because of how that leg was pulled up (couldn't pull the hind legs apart to skin him)he couldn't take a whiz without getting it on himself, so there was not way he could breed. Maybe the big dog didn't see him as a rival?

Thats a good point. He probably couldn't put up much of a fight.

This is one of my favorites. Its a rubbed ugly coyote but I love teaching my boy.

This one was my favorite, was my first of the season, a season I didn’t think I’d be able to trap.

Here are a couple of my favs from the year so far...

3 dogs that I considered my best , my best one day catch , some light colored coyotes to be offered in second sale .

Here is one of the better ones I had this year from Eastern Wisconsin. Not as purtty as those Western yotes.

Our best season ever , 118 caught on total ...not all made it to auction , kept a few to tan and give as gifts , some mange that didnt make it home and a couple fed to eagles .
