We have leash laws where I live. My Lab is well trained and devoted. She heels regardless of distraction. I walk her without a leash but do make her wear the ecollar just in case she decides to become self employed. If the city ever gives me trouble I'll put on a short check cord and just let it drag. The law doesn't say we have to hold the leash. I'm a rebel grini

Talk with the sheriff. Theres nothing wrong with the dogs exercising your truck. How long before your truck gets tired. I bet someone complained, not knowing that the breed was bread to run all day, covering miles. Take care and let us know if your state turned blue overnight. Hope its just a couple of dummies involved.

If your mind draws a blank, turn off the sound, because ya can't learn a thing if you're doin all the talkin

cmcf, would you be able to get permission from the ranch owners to road your dogs along their property? That alone may(?) negate any problems, because they would then be there with the landowners OK. Just a thought. Our ROW laws may be different than yours.

I know several people like that, not just law enforcement.

What you need to do is go by the Sheriff's Office and ask to speak to a Supervisor. Explain what happened and ask where you stand. If you were in violation ask for a copy of the law so you won't make that mistake again, you are entitled to a copy.
If you were in the right, thank them for their time and continue on with what your doing. Simple as that.

Was trapping down in Arizona many years ago when I came across a truck that flipped over in the desert, 2 guys in the truck looked to be shooting stuff out the window and hit a packrat house. So I went and got the Sheriff and by the time I was done I was treated like a criminal for doing the right thing.

One thing you need to consider is the Sheriff has more power then the Feds in his County so if things go bad just walk away as it's a no win for you.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I'd say Pa fell for it as well when Wolf signed another "animal abuse" bill into law.Now you basically cant own a dog that needs to be tethered.Who doesn't want a pack of hounds in the house. Some probably even see this as a win.Its just more overreach, more control.BTW,I'm against actual abuse as I'm sure most are.I just don't need the state telling me what they think abuse is.

Someone must have complained and the first question I would have asked "Is there a county ordinance that I am violating?" If so, then you have to choose what you will do. If the answer is no, then maybe they were just concerned about your dogs getting hit. However, it's pretty easy to see that a guy with hounds with collars is not going to let his dogs get hit!!!!

If those had been two old deputies would there still have been a post on this forum?

it varies by township here , check your laws .

the township law here is that your dogs must be under your control , and that does not mean on a leash . sounds like your dogs fit under control very well.

I am a dog owner also but I accept that from the second my dog runs our of my fenced yard or I un-clip the leash or let go of the leash every thing that happens to the dog and any thing it does is my responsibility.

first people let their kids run wild and expected that some one else should watch and keep their kids safe and complained when they got hurt or into trouble. not accepting it was their responsibility and not some one elses.

then they let their dogs run wild and expected that some one else should watch and keep their dogs safe and complained when they got hurt or into trouble. not accepting it was their responsibility and not some one elses.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis , and everything else stems from it.
kids , dogs , drugs , DUI , crime ,anything you can think of starts and ends with a responsibility crisis.

Running hounds down a rural road in the middle of nowhere Wyoming should be commonplace . What's with all the leash law postings here ?

What would you do if your dog was killed in a legally set rotating jaw trap?

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
