Had a lung doctor tell me Tuesday I had Black Lung and had another Doc tell me Wednesday I got to have a knee replace and line me up next week for surgery. And on top of all that I heard rumors that the possum hide market was down. Got to try and find a little humor in all this.

Anybody ever had a knee replace? Told me I could be down for three months or so.

The best to you at least the knee repair is at the end of trapping season and not the start! Wife has the same kind of bad luck she lost her Dad the end of Jan and her Mom 2 days ago so I feel for you guys!

My wife has had both knees replaced due to complications from RA says it was best thing she ever did. It will be a tough couple of months and then much better, be sure and do the rehab excercises that the Dr sets up. I need a knee done but I'm not sure I'm as tough as my wife. I know several people who have had there knees done and all say they should have done it sooner. Good luck

My wife had both her knees done at the same time. She's doing great now, but make sure you do the rehab.

Not any replacements but have pain from time to time from my years of kneeling on concrete.Funny how the young body doesn't think of those things at the time then later in life it just hits you one day.

I hope you at least break even the possums... I've had knee surgery, not full replacement, mine kept me low and I needed physical therapy. But do the knee surgery if needed

Thanks guys. Also heard you got to do the rehab for sure. It bone on bone but he did say my right knee still look good. Said the new knee should last around 20 years. Shoot I'll be 80 then so I doubt I'll do it a second time, lol.

My grandfather had one knee done and wished he had the other done. Might not be too bad, praying for you.

Don't get your hopes up. Things like this take time, and they don't always have a positive outcome. That possum market is liable to be in toilet for the next couple of years. And if the market does come back, I think they're gonna put a CITES tag on them.

New knees are pretty good anymore. I have several friends with them. You’d never know they had them unless they told you.

Best Wishes

Thoughts and prayers are with you. I think you will see $10 possums before you need the second knee replacement.

My father had both of his done, one in the spring and the other in the fall. Made him walk straighter so they had to replace his hip. One of the few times I've seen him cry. He said you just have to make up your mind that its going to hurt for a while and work through it. He says that the replacement pain wasn't nothing compared to the year of pain dealing with RA and knee issues.
He hunts coon, deer and turkey. Does most of anything he wants. Doctor told him no tree stands or jumping off of anything. He uses a ground blind and a comfortable chair to set in.

Prayers sent your way.

Recovery always hurts but if you do not do the therapy you will hurt for life. Do what the therapist says and then some. It pays off. My therapist was amazed with my rotor cuff recovery after surgery. No pain no gain. Think they deal with wimps for the most part.

RO2, Had my knee replaced 3 months ago. Thinking of doing my other it feels so good. Won't lie it is hard work and it hurts. Nit the pain before surgery was worse. Knee was bad. I promised my wife I'd listen, do as told, and work hard. Do what they tell you and no more. Ice is your friend! Have the ice circulating machine. I met my goal of at 6 weeks I was sitting on a bucket catching my pitchers for my softball team. God Bless, and will keep you our prayers.

Some good positive feed back on the knee from guys who had it done or know other who had it done and I think you all for that and the prayers. Got to go to a two hour class this morning on the surgery, didn't even know they did that. Also got to get another X-Ray from my other lung doctor that help me with my COPD this morning to make sure it OK to put me to sleep for the knee cut. Little work here with some pain but got to be better then what it is now.

On black lung not much they can do for it. Doc said maybe it won't advance any more then what it is now. Kind of a crapshoot on it I reckon. Kind of knew I had it but I reckon didn't really want to face that one. Nothing any good ever come from this mess. They turn it over to the Department of Labor so I can be another number and maybe draw a little check and that about all they can do right now. Hot weather really sucks on this one.

Thanks again guys. I don't talk to much about my problems but a reckon some times a man just got to say a little something. God bless trappers.

As for the possum hide market I'm not to worry about it. I got some southern coon hides at NAFA to fall back on, lol.
