Wrestling is not to big around here but my friends son just won the North Carolina state championship in 132 class as a freshman

OSU is doing very well the first round. They are 19 and 1. They will be giving PSU a strong run.

PSU will have a hard time repeating this year with their weakness in the first two weight classes. The Studs in the middle weight classes will have to win with bonus points in every round and hope for a few upsets along the way. Also, the Consy wrestlers will have to win big going out the bottom bracket.

as of right now its buckeyes, psu, iowa. lots of great wrestling already... and more to come. i suspect the quarters will be fun to watch tm morning.

What does Penn State have to do to clinch the championship?

Some of that answer will be determined by how everyone does in the Consy's. PSU did get their 5 big guns back in the finals where, OSU lost 4 out of 5 Semi matches

The Consy's are now history. Tell me how the scoring works in the finals. What does Penn State have to do to clinch it? As you most likely can tell I do not know much about wrestling. I am mainly a football fan, but I do root and cheer for every Penn State team in every sport.

There are a few ways it could go. PSU needs to win 3 with one being at 184 and it doesn't matter how 285 turns out. A lot can happen so it's best to watch and enjoy the top notch competition.

What r the chances of our hometown boy Hidlay knocking off Nolf?

Maybe 30%, but what do I know. Nolf has his knee issue which is slowing him down a little. Also has the experience on hilday. I wouldn't bet on it. Wild things do happen when a title is on the line.

. Not necessarily. Nolf was only defeated during his injury default. Otherwise he would likely be undefeated with a better resume and potential Hodge candidate. In my opinion a hidlay win would be an upset even with nolf's knee.

Hall and Valencia at 174 ought to b a good one too! 32/0 and 31/0.

Loyalties aside, I'm a hidlay fan and I hope he's well in his career. Just not tonight.

I give zahid the advantage in this one. Hall win is not necessarily an upset. They split the last two meetings. I just personally think zahid has the offensive advantage. Hall is very strategic so not a sure thing though.

you betcha. The beauty of 3 day tournaments is the highest equalizer of stamina and having to make weight each day. Guys with better gas tanks and preparation can close the gap considerably on talent.

Thanks 4 gettin me up to speed. I wrestled varsity mostly 112/119# 1970-73(maybe b4 u).Moved here to Lewistown and with Penn State right above town and Hidlay boys from town its a little hard not to follow the area wrestling.

Really wanted to see Hidlay and Lions win. Gonna have to settle for half.Maybe brother Trent can b a 4x champ in the future. Finals was worth staying awake for.

As a die hard hawk fan, I’ve got to say, I truely enjoyed watching everyone of Bo’s matches this year. What he does, and how he does it is truely impressive. Congrats to PSU, was pulling for you guys all night, that was quite a line up, and they really delivered. Totally deserving of #7 in 8 years.

I was pulling for Iowa's Spencer Lee against the PSU defector Suriano. Glad to see Lee dominate that match. (It helps that he is a former PA High school standout)

I may not go because I really enjoyed watching the 3 day coverage on ESPN. I thought they did a great job and got to watch the replays and learn about the backgrounds of the wrestlers. Plus its convenient to stay home and do other things.

Hunter wrestled post-collegiately for four years (2000-04), competing in two World Team Trials and the 2004 Olympic Trials, where he finished fourth at 55 kg.

Hunter has shown great versatility in his coaching, as he was a big factor in the success of NCAA Champion Jesse Delgado (125), often drilling with him in workouts. Hunter has also guided All-Americans Jimmy Kennedy (133), Mike Poeta (157) and John Wise (HWT).

A three-time All-American at Penn State University, Hunter ended his career ranked third all-time with 62 dual meet wins and 29 career pins. His 123 career victories are tied for fifth and his 14-5 NCAA Tournament record ranks ninth in the Nittany Lion record books. He placed fifth in 1998 and was the NCAA runner-up in 1999.

Hunter won a Big Ten title in 1999 and placed among the top three on four occasions during his Penn State career. He earned Big Ten Wrestler of the Year honors in 2000 after his second-straight 33-1 season and was the conference's Rookie of the Year in 1997. A four-year dual-meet starter, he led the Nittany Lions in scoring for three straight seasons and posted a string of 41-straight dual-meet wins.

yes its that jeremy hunter lol. bic is correct, he was a 4 time pa state champ. only lost 2 matches his entire HS career... both to teague moore. at penn state a knee injury plagued him for a while (along with some bad coaching at that time, but we wont get into that). im honored to say were brothers, although he left me gigantic shoes to fill ha. i wrestled up until 6th grade... then switched to motorsports.
