Is it bad for the springs to keep them compressed (with the safety's engaged)?

Here's a little trick to keep those safety's from swinging all over the place.....just wrap light wire 16 guage or lighter , around the bar then Around the safety once...then around the bar again

I have seen with the old ones that it would weak them up.

i personally never leave springs compressed unless its on a new bridger or real stiff trap to aid in setting by hand...i dont use setters

I tend to agree with above. it just seems that the compressed springs under tension in all the off season to in my opinion to loose some kick.

I leave mine compressed during season but onload them for storage in the off season. I won't argue one way or the other on if it hurts them but in my mind it can't help so this is why I do what I do...

Wish I had more time to trap....
