I have started to get a little collection of tanned fur for projects down the road. I found some oversized, maybe 4 gallon,Ziploc type bags at a local trade center that hold about 4 or 5 rolled up tanned coyotes each. Seemed like a great idea so I carefully stuffed the bags with coyotes, foxes, and raccoons. Now I'm wondering if that is a smart way to store tanned fur or not. I haven't noticed any issues, but they have only been there a short time. How do you guys store your tanned furs?

That is probably the best way in my book as you don't have to worry about moths or other bugs making a new home out of your hard earned furs. I put in a piece of aromatic cedar in with each bag just to be safe plus it smells good when you take them out.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Get them out of those bags !! They will sweat in them and you will lose them.

I have stored fur for years in my basement just by hanging in the dark with no sunlight directly on them. Have others still in card board boxes un wrapped. None are hurt. All are un rolled so the fur has a natural lay to it, as I use them for hats and such or sell as is to people wanting to do their own work. It's not very worth while to have a customer want to look at a pelt and you roll it out and it's all curled up, LOL

Store them in the sun eventually they will dry rot. Best way is to store in refer units but who can enjoy them that way LOL
