My daughter and son in law surprised the wife and I with a trip to Alaska! We went to Anchorage then on to Fairbanks. While we were there we had the great opportunity to see the lights. What a light show we got!! Im not the best at photographing at night but here are a few better shots. Photo advise welcome!

Sure is purty. Brings back memories of when I lived up there.

Amazing! Spectacular photos. We get them here in North Idaho but not as bright and vibrant as that... nothin' quite like watchin' the Lights on a cold night.

Thanks for the compliments. Idaho, It was a cold night! Shoot a few frames then get in the car to warm up the hands! Hard to use a camera with gloves on!

Kind of tough panning for gold in that kind of weather. You planning to go back during the warmer months sometime to do some prospecting?

Really nice pictures.

Real tough to pan! This trip was not known to me. The daughter planned this out so we could see the lights. But a summer trip is being planned already.

We see them up here a lot but not usually that spectacular. It gives me a feeling of insignificance in the whole scheme of things.

Thanks for the compliments. I found the most challenging part was to get the shots in focus. Might have been easier if we had got there in the daytime. I was finally able to focus on a car that was way down the road and it was still tuff!
