I agree! Come on carl, post a video or two!

You need to read all of my words in my other post.
I will post a video of me handing a tree company a check to climb the tree and lower it piece by piece. smile

I have done some pretty impressive dropping myself. I dropped an elm of dubious heritage between the fence and the garage. The tree was off balance too. My mother just about had a cow, but it was right where I wanted it to land. Only brush from the crown touched the fence and the neighbor asked if she could cut up and keep what she could get to. Free clean up too. Gave the wood to a nice young lady I rather fancied. That paid dividends.

Doug firs like the one in the video have really good holding (hinge) wood which makes them fairly manageable when falling. However, in the video it looks like they cut clear through the holding wood; kind of a no-no.

That was a pretty tight fit. Just 1/4" off on the aim of the notch would have been disaster on either building. Good job.

Sounds all-in-all like a pleasurable experience for all involved.

I did this with a 26" diameter red oak a few weeks ago. Works like a charm.
