i was close,i started stacking lumber in the local mill the day after i turned 16 and worked 39 hrs a week till i graduated then off to a factory for 20 yrs before escaping and going into business on my own.which wouldn't have been possible if not for the good start.
when i cut these big poplars i am trying to eliminate its run through the designated path at the first sign of movement.don't trust them at all and i just looked at 13 that have to go.
LOL always someone to take the right out of some thing done good.
Most would not even know how to begin to cut the tree right, regardless of how straight they are, but what ever. Like to see your vids Carl !!
I agree! Come on carl, post a video or two!
You need to read all of my words in my other post. I will post a video of me handing a tree company a check to climb the tree and lower it piece by piece.
I have done some pretty impressive dropping myself. I dropped an elm of dubious heritage between the fence and the garage. The tree was off balance too. My mother just about had a cow, but it was right where I wanted it to land. Only brush from the crown touched the fence and the neighbor asked if she could cut up and keep what she could get to. Free clean up too. Gave the wood to a nice young lady I rather fancied. That paid dividends.
Doug firs like the one in the video have really good holding (hinge) wood which makes them fairly manageable when falling. However, in the video it looks like they cut clear through the holding wood; kind of a no-no.

Sounds all-in-all like a pleasurable experience for all involved.
