Is it worth owning body armor and if so what type would be best?

The better it is, the more uncomfortable (and hotter) it is. Just a rule of thumb.

Trying to ban it here in good old Illinois.

All because a cop in Chicago was killed and the perp was wearing it, cop never even pulled his gun on the guy, so not sure how that mattered.

Some people refuse to see the truth when you bludgeon them over the head with it.

So the cops want it for their safety but they don't want anyone else having one for protection?

Why does this not surprise me.

Antis can just use their banners to protect them

Body armor is reserved for government types. Same with automatic weapons.

Yep!

I saw a thing not too long ago about a guy who has started a company specializing in body armor designed for everyday citizen use. Not sure on the details, but if someone knows it would probably be worth a look.

Better to have and not need. You need to figure out what your threats are before you buy. Body armor has different ratings and will only stop a specific list of calibers. For rifle rounds you’re going to need to go with hard armor plates (steel, ceramic or poly). They’re heavy and more expensive but they’re the only option for rifle rounds. Most handguns can be stopped by lvl II and lvl IIIa soft armor, lvlII being the more concealable option.

watched a video of a guy being shot with 308 ball ammo wearing these plates from about 15 feet , that should do

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Its primarily made for pistol rounds only. Usually won't do much good vs knives or especially rifle rounds.

Some states its just a crime if you're wearing while in the commission of a crime (IE burglars, bank robbers, etc). This law can also protect the home/business owner in the event they have to protect themselves or family against someone wearing one when they come through the door. But in reality, laws like this are just feel good laws as bank robbers, etc could care less about breaking another law.

I have held the new Dynemma Level 3 plates and they are very light....1/3 the weight of ceramic and they float.

If you put them over 3a soft armor and you have Level 4 protection and extra trauma protection from the soft armor underneath the plates.

High dollar thou....
