Heard 6 different birds gobbling first thing yesterday morning when I took the dog out . Seems early for them to be so fired up .The morning temps have been in the 20 's to about 30. And now the weatherman is predicting snow for the next 2 days . But things can change quickly this time of year .

I've killed Rio and Eastern here in Oklahoma but I'm planning a trip to Colorado this year for a Merriam.

Getting excited for it

Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.

My last few turkey hunting trips were over in about 30 minutes. Then you have to eat the dumb buzzards. It's fun, but they aint no Butterball so kind of give up.

2 things:

1) carry a kid or two and let them experience those "easy" gobblers.

2) find a better cook. Wild turkey breast is delicious.
