We have a Backhoe here on the farm. I thought about fish farming but not sure there is enough money in it to make it a good paying proposition.

have built 2 here last fall, really good springs also.across the road a buddies pond is full of fatheads and i have spent 2 months moving as many to my ponds as i could before he pulls the plug and drains it.building a pond because a spot is wet never creates a good one.onlly thing he bred was fatheads and skeeters.the quarry pond as i call it was made for the gravel and is 14 ft deep.it will get a coupe trout i catch but will be strictly crappies and the new lower pond will be a little bit of whatever i catch.it's about an acre.

Bic, if that is gravity flow, I believe I'd be making power off of that...

The spring shown is gravity flow about 100 yards to where it is shown. There is only about 10 feet of elevation drop from that spring to where the overflow pipes are shown. We don't use this spring water for anything. The other spring is located another 600 feet farther up the hill. It gives us a 60 ft elevation drop to the houses. That is the water source we use. The volume isn't quite as much as the spring shown but more than adequate to supply Me, my Brother and my Dad's houses without the use of any pumps.
So How would you fellas recommend harnessing Electricity from this spring?

I have 2 springs too. One flows all year except usually in parts of July and August and the other flows for maybe 8 months. The weirdest thing is that they both flow into my low area and then disappear into the ground. I get runoff water in hard rains, that flows into the same area, that also disappears. Sometimes the one creek is as wide as 15 feet and 3 foot deep in the center and the water still disappears. My low area will occasionally get 5 1/2 feet of water, that builds up over close to half an acre and then the water disappears in 20 to 30 minutes. I think there is gravel over a cave or sinkhole. I am on the edge of a glacial moraine. There are both caves and sinkholes North West of me, in the same moraine.

I have been looking into aquaculture and the only way to make okay money, on a small scale, is to sell direct to the consumer. I have been looking into perch, tilapia and tiger prawns and will probably do koi and goldfish too. I will probably make a small fathead minnow pond for bait as well.

How much water is taken out of the system by the beverage industry?

There are warehouses all over the world full of beer, water, soda, ice tea, etc.

does this affect weather systems?

I never get up that way. The closest I get to NY is when I go to my kids place in Erie during the summer.
