Model # 36-725
DELTA 13-Amp 10-in Carbide-Tipped Table Saw

Says it has a Cast Iron top, but the Extensions , are Steel. Possibly Stamped Steel. Any Guess as to the thickness and durability of Steel Extensions ? Hate to drop a heavy 4x4 of Cherry or White Oak on the Steel Extensions , and have them bend! shocked

Thanks,

Canvasback

My guess the extensions are measured in gauge steel being less than eighth inch thick.

I don't have a dewalt saw to give you accurate info.

What I would recommend if you are concerned is adding bracing or maybe some angle iron to add strength.

Maybe even find a old cheap saw with cast extensions and adapt them to fit. There are a lot of old craftsman table saw out there that can be bought cheap.

Dropping a 4x4 of hardwood is gonna be bad for anything but if you want something really solid you're going to have to upgrade from the contractors saws.

Most wings have to be shimmed to be level anyway so if you did have an accident and bent it a little you could take it off and straighten it as best you can then shim it back up or down.

I didn't like the look of the stamped steel extensions that came with my Craftsman, so I Modded some CI's to fit, VERY glad I did.

My craftsman was bought in the 80s and it has cast extensions. The fence sucked for accuracy on that era saw but I found a kit to upgrade it so now I have a heavy duty base with a really accurate and easy sliding fence.

These old craftsman saws are out there and can be bought cheap
