So a friend called me about a coyote problem. He has a 40 acre enclosed pen that he runs beagles in. 5 ft high fenced in electric fence clear around it. He has 4 or 5 game cameras hooked right to his phone. He was getting coyote pics inside the pen. he was afraid to run the beagles in there and the coyotes were getting the rabbits
I said I would set a couple traps and would see what happens. They farm around 5000 acres and are one of my bigger permissions I trap and want to keep them happy. Nothing happened the first two nights but he was getting pics of coyotes and starting to rib me a little.
So now I am under the spotlight so its game on. No stupid coyote is going to get the best of me lol. I made 2 more sets and this made 4 total. These were 3 dirthole and one post set.
The next morning I had a female in a dirthole. He was real happy and I swelled up a little and bragged a little about how good of trapper I was. The next morning I had all three traps at the dirthole sets dug out set off and scratched out to the side.
Normally when this happens I just go on and don't tell anybody and forget about it.lol Could not do it here with the cameras and having to keep him happy.
So I remade all the sets and the one dirthole about 6 ft. upwind I took a small piece of wood and blended in a trap in front of it and put one drop of fox pee on the wood. The next morning the dirt hole was dug up trap fired and had a big male by the hind foot at piece of wood. He had to show off and mark the wood and tell the world how good he was at digging out traps. It cost him.
