Has anyone tried IMR 7828 with a 100 gr bullet. Will be out of a 22" barrel. Just looking for a good hunting load. I have lots of other powders and use 4831 most of the time. Just look for a use for this. Thanks

yes, Hornady list a starting load of 41.6 gr and Nosler is 41.5. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it and how they liked it.

Are you having trouble with your load? Can't find 4831? I guess I'm stuck in that "if it ain't broke don't TRY to fix it"

Glad someone asked about .243 loads. I'm going to be loading some hornady SST 95 gr. with imr4350. Be shooting a ruger M77 lightweight.

Not having any trouble with the current load. An older gentleman was selling off his stuff and I bought a lot of it at a great price. So now I have a few pounds of the 7828 and was looking for a use for it. Always enjoy trying new loads, seeing if I can do as good or better with them. The twist is 1 in 9.5 if I recall correct.

I don't have a .243 but do have it's ballistic twin, the 6mm Rem. It's a Browning B78 and I couldn't get it to group to my satisfaction until trying IMR7828 SSC. That was a winner and it now shoots consistent sub MOA 5 shot groups using Sierra 100 gr Gamekings (1560 boat tail spitzers). Terrific rifle/cartridge for deer and antelope. You should be able to develop a good load with 7828 also.

My 700 likes that powder with a 95gr Nosler BT and 75gr Vmax. It shoots them basically the same at 3/4” if I do my part. The 75 prints about an 1” higher than the 95gr.

I have not reloaded the .243 in years, but always got good results with IMR 4350. Do not be afraid to use 7828. It is a great powder in many applications. Also, don't hesitate to compress loads. It does not affect anything and lots of the slower powders have to be compressed to get enough powder in the case to do the job. Perfectly fine. You may be surprised at what you can do with 7828 and little experimentation.

4831 seems to work best in my grandsons 243's. I obviously didn't try every powder available but I did try 4895 and 4350. the 4831 is very accurate with 100 grain sierra boat tails.
