Being trapping is about done I have started my longline mouse line. I have been catching a freezing. When the time comes I am going to grind. Do I need to add something to it or keep it straight mouse. Fresh or tainted for trapping?

You will need to add a preservative when you get it like you want unless you want to freeze it until season. No you don't have to add something else but there are things you can add to make it more attractive to Target species. But I would say that depends on how much you want to experiment and test to find the right combination. As far as fresh or taint I would say that would depend on what you are wanting it to do and how you're using it ( are you using it in conjunction with a lure that has more calling power or are you wanting it to be a stand alone bait). I've caught stuff on fresh mice and I've caught stuff on mice tainted to a complete liquid.

I guess I would use it most in dirt holes. I wouldn't throw out the idea with it at a few flat sets also. I spend enough money buying bait every year, which works but really want to try my own thing.

If you wanted to keep it simple and had enough mice I would say maybe put some up fresh, some slightly tainted and maybe some with a commercial bait solution. Maybe even rot some completely down to liquid and use it as an ingredient to add a little punch to the three others.

ground mice are hard to mess up lol unless you let maggots get in them! Ive had my best luck with honey and fox urine.
