The varmint is 8.5 and the standard is 7 but the standard one comes with a scope so I don't know if they included that in the weight? I'm not a fan of rebates anyway. Seems like something always happens and you never see that money lol!

this description with scope calls overall weight at 7.25
https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/...047700846002.do

and this one calls it at 7.4 pounds https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/14236/Firearms/Rifles/Remington/Bolt+Action+Centerfire/Remington+700+ADL+.223+24+Syn+W%2FScope+3-9x40+4Rd

So at 7.3 lbs and 9.25 lbs the varmint with scope would be 21% increase in weight. Going from 7 to 9 doesn't seem like a lot until you look at it that way.

Pete, am I correct in my research here? If I cut the 26" barrel down to 20" I'll only loose about 100 fps in most 223? Seems like a no brainer.

I'm thinking of getting the varmint and wacking 6" of barrel off. The price is cheaper and I like the stock better.

yes 100-200 feet depends on ammo https://rifleshooter.com/2015/12/223-rem...es-to-6-inches/

you say spend less on a longer barrel then have it cut. Unless you have a lathe and know how to cut and crow a barrel that is going to cost you 75 to 120 depending on who does it .

they make the 700 SPS in a 24 inch standard weight brrel and 20 inch bull threaded barrel also
