I like the ruger but if just for targets I like the 22/45 MKIII Target but with a MKII hammer bushing installed.
we take these to 100 meters for 22 pistol silhouettes , it is a lot of fun they also make good bullseye pistols you can take it to a league and get started in Bulleseye now called Precision Pistol.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I have over 3,000 rounds through an s&w .22 compact. very nice gun and a great shooter, but its fussy about what you feed it. hollow points with a very flat nose wont feed, but Remington golden bullet h.p.'s work great. any round nose bullet works great too. feed issues are very common in .22 compacts. find an ammo it likes and stay with that. not as much of an issue with the larger models.
for the record, I ran 3,000 rounds through it without cleaning anything. this was intentional, as I wanted to evaluate how it operated when dirty or neglected. when I field stripped it, it was amazing how clean it was. it was still functioning perfectly after those 3,000 rounds. very nice gun.

our county youth shooting program has 9 of the MKIII I got 7 Vortex viper micro dots and 5 of the guns on an NRA grant in 2016 , if you can hold still ok, so that is the hard part all you have to do is hover that dot right over a rams back , if it is windy over the but or head depending on direction but it never gets that windy or the targets blow over.
a few years ago I had a young lady who had never shot pistol before we explained pistol safety she sat down and put 2 magazines in to a target at 10 yards an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper with about a 6 inch target. she was all over the paper but all on the paper , clean up grip this was the biggest part, and trigger squeeze , a little on sight alignment and sight picture and she was consistently ringing a 10 inch plate at 60 meters with iron sights , every time she would start to miss , I would find she had shifted her grip down again, fix the grip back on target. she shot most of this wrists wrested on a sand bag at a shooting bench
but she got 1 or 2 rams standing
4 of our guns have been in the program for 10+ years and have many thousands of rounds through them they need a good cleaning every year but are holding up well.

I have the SR 22, nice gun, what I really like is it fits in Back pocket of my jeans real comfortably.
