any vet nam vets having problems 50 years after getting home?
I Have lost most 0f left hand and have Tremors on my left side. The V A has not not helped.

I just received an email from a friend in Fairbanks with similar troubles. Agent Orange related in his case. All VA wanted to do was cut off both arms. He went to Mayo Clinic and they have managed to stop the deterioration in one arm and actually improve the function in the other.

Look outside of VA

Talked to guy that was there, said they were told to throw empty containers into a lagoon, when it was full, they had to Wade out into the stuff and clean containers out of lagoon, wow how stupid were their commanders! He was fighting cancer from agent orange

just lost a good friend and neighbor to cancer one of many viet vets I've known and watched struggle they would have been better off on welfare then the va but to proud

I got back home in 1973. I'm having problems with arthritis but other than that nothing major. I spent most of the time I was there out in the jungle on missions, didn't have much to do with agent-orange over there. I saw where they sprayed the stuff and the destruction of the trees and plants and animal life. It was bad.
I've been real lucky as far as my health.

Glad you came home, I was too young but back then I said I was not going to go to a jungle to die for people I couldn't care less for, I always figured if they attacked us at home I would fight, I know how to shoot pretty good

The first lottery I was in my birthday came up 340 something. The second was 296? Danged sure wasnt going to volenteer. In-laws husband died from rare CHILDHOOD leukemia in his thirties. VA denied benefit to his wife and two young children. He told me his plane would be slick with the stuff when he landed. Dark days for our country for sure. May GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU.

Wow 340 on the lottery! I got number 60 so I wasn't around for the 2nd one! I was in the central highlands and came in 1970 when most of the area had already been sprayed and thus not so much more spraying when I was there. I don't feel I have as many issues as many but stuff has really started to come to a head just the last 3-5 years. I am looking at age (70) and genetics along with other options. I used the VA for the first time this winter for my glasses. Service went well. When I went to the county VA office several years ago I asked some questions and wanted to get enrolled into the system. That is done. I got a huge packet of information on all the military and Nam related health issues I could be applying for to get disabilities. I stated I don't want money I want to be healthy and the statement back was we don't know if we can do much about your health but we can work to get you benefits. I guess that is the method that our government chooses to deal with the issues, one case at a time and you need to scream and holler and whine, which I find really disturbing but probably fits or current cultural status.
The average male with boots on the ground is 4 to 10 times more likely to contract type 2 diabetes than same age males who never went and if I chose to eat 2 dozen doughnuts per day and a case of Mountain Dew I would get the disability no questions asked. Now that is the way to run a health care system and or an agency benefiting those who fought and were exposed to life changing issues other than lead.
