Grey squirrels are climbing my A/C lines and getting in the attic. I have had three 19x6x6 traps set on the ground with peanut butter for two days. Caught a bobtailed possum last night but no squirrels. LOL I know there is better bait but that is all I had handy. To compound the problem this is in a lake neighborhood and when my wife and I went for a walk last night we saw no less than fifty squirrels including a bunch of young of the year. Do you think I should go ahead and order some stuff to do positive trap/exclusion? Let me know how you would set this up including trap type - pictures would be great. Also, anything to prevent this in the future. Thanks!!!

110s are ideal for that. Attach a board or lath strip to the block with tapcon screws. Use the board the secure a coni stabilizer to hold the 110.

Unless I get a WCO license I can't use 110's in OK. I may check with the local game warden and explain my situation to get permission. I already have some 110's that I have used in AR.

I'm thinking about getting one of the Pro-Cone Gray Squirrel Excluders to fit in/over the hole to at least get them excluded. Has anyone used these?

If they live there and you exclude them, they WILL find another way in. Have to catch the ones that live there first.

I have a similar situation with grays getting into an attic. I plan to use some positive sets with cages over the openings. My question is this, what time of day should I put the traps out? If I set them during the day, I would assume the squirrels will be out of the house and wont be able to get back in and I wont catch them. If I set it in the evening, they will be inside already and I may have a better chance of catching them on the way out. Anyone have a preference on when you set these up?
Thanks!

If you're not going to use cones or any other type of similar methods. I would just pull a piece of soffit out and place a couple traps up in the soffit and utilize that AC unit with traps as well. Gray's are relatively easy animals to trap and also very curious put the right bait in a trap and they'll go to it.

Get the tube traps. peanut button the pan, and put sunflower seeds into the peanut butter. I guarantee you'll have a dead squirrel within 1 day.

Just a weekend trapper...

I trap with lots of cages for a few days before I pest proof. Fields supplies and WCS both sell brackets that will hold a small trap right in the eves trough. This puts you very close to the entery location. The traps are easy to check and just high enough that they won't be messed with. After a few days I will put crumpled news paper or use some small plastic grocery bags to stuff in the hole. If the news paper stays your target animals are gone. Pest proof and your done, easy peasy.

Update: I'm getting ready to go on a week long turkey hunting trip so I pulled all my traps and put the excluder in place. I've caught eleven squirrels and still see multiple squirrels in my yard and in my neighbors' yards. I have not seen or heard anymore squirrels in my attic but did put the excluder in place to leave until I get back.

I did purchase a couple commercial squirrel baits from WCS but for whatever reason it has not worked. I'm sure they are good baits based upon the reviews and also good reviews on here in the past. I guess it has to do with the time of year or something. I can tell both baits have a walnut scent and I was almost tempted to taste them. LOL

I found a pre-owned Rugged Ranch Squirrelinator at a garage sale for $10 and figured why not give it a try. I figured it was a gimmick but dang if I haven't caught all of the squirrels in it. I had a leftover bag of deer corn so have used corn in it for bait.
