The company I ordered them from sent out replacement parts as soon as I told them what happened. No Charge. I got the parts at noon today. If you need AR parts and great service, check out ACME Machine.

A hair over $500. I have to find some glass for it, then we will see how it shoots.

did you stake the castle nut ? you don't actually sake the nut but the receiver end plate so that it flows into the notch on the nut.

I did not and although I have heard this lingo, I have no idea what it means.

it is very simple you use a center punch on the receiver end plate and it bulges slightly into the notch on the castle nut making it not loosen without more force , but if you need to remove the nut you simply use the wrench like normal this one is very minimally staked , but also not loosening at all I see some where they try and fill the notch with drifted metal , you just need to creat a slight bulge that the nut will grab , it isn't to keep a tool from pushing past it just keep it from shaking loose on it's own.

Got it. Well, I'm not sure yet whether I want to keep this adjustable stock on the rifle or go with a fixed rifle stock, so I might hold off until I shoot it a few times before I do any semi-permanent damage to the gun. Apparently, there are different schools of thought regarding "to stake or not to stake".. It will be awhile befor I shoot it, so I will mull it over some.

I didn't stake my first build and after several uses I had to put the wrench on it , it isn't like it spins loose all at once you just start to notice a little wobble in the stock.
the part you put the dimple in is 4 dollars for the basic , more if you went with one that allows sling attachment

Nice build!
Not trying to hijack, but I am very interested in buying or building an AR. I am looking for the most cost effecient way to get a nice shooting gun. I am familiar with .223, but looking for something with the most affordable and available ammo. I am a complete nube when it comes to ARs. Something I can shoot hogs with at night, or long range deer, etc. Can someone PM me or point me in the right direction? I am pretty savvy, and I think I could build one, but I wouldn't know which parts to buy, or why some were better than others. Maybe I should call somewhere like ACME?
Happy Trapping . . .
