I have a handful of FB1 DP traps that have gone out of adjustment. These are the ones with the full back plate. So much so that they will not fire. These seem so simple that I cannot figure out why. There is only a single bolt to adjust the trigger tension. Loosening or tightening this does not seem to help. Any advice on how to properly adjust these?

Adjust the dog. That's the biggest source of tension, not the pan bolt.

Can you descibe a little more? I have tried making some adjustments to the dog. Followed Clint's YouTube video. But it like everything has gotten loose. The trigger will not move the cam. I will try again.

Can you move the cam when the trap isn't set?

Yes, pretty sure of that. When set the cam doesn't even contact the trigger. I don't want to start filing the trigger just yet till I understand. I filed one to far and I can no longer even set it. That one is going to need a new trigger. Going to do some more investigation tonight then I will check back in.

You dont need to file the dog. Bending the dog away from the plate will decrease the tension. The grab bar does not need to hit the lever for the dog, you can make it do so to make it more sensitive as either a push or pull, assuming the coon doesnt push the trigger the opposite the direction first. The below is what it should look like when set.

I guess if someone really wanted to make the trap hyper sensitive, they would weld a washer or other piece of metal thats about 1/16th thick to the lever so the lever touches.

Thanks for the help. I figured this out. I loosen the trigger bolt and cleaned it out with some PB Blaster and a small wire brush. The trigger actually snapped into position and contact the can. It didn't take much to cause the Trap to not work properly I'm going to have to clean these all out thanks for all the help.
