Watched a few videos of this factory drag race car, oh man it flat out moves. With racing fuel it had 840 horse! With a restrictor it will top out about 168 mph, without they got 203 mph! Oh that would be a blast! 8speed auto trans 2.3 seconds to sixty! Crazy, shifted into sixth gear at about 110 mph lol

It was a rush, 69 Chevelle ss, I put 4 speed, and a 327 in it, at red line 6800 rpm I shifted into 4 the gear at 120-123 mph, flat open roads, no cars in sight back then Lol 3 times slower in quarter mile as demon

I stepped out on the deck to wizz last week and heard a low rumbling sound heading North on I-29. A few seconds later i hear the sirens and see the flashing lights. I tuned in the IA St. Highway Patrol on my phones scanner... "Pursuit of a Dodge Challenger I-29 North, pulling away...we are at 150mph...Abandoning pursuit." Im not condoning running from the law but, That was the meanest sound ive ever heard. The demon must be even better.
I will gladly feast on those who would subdue me.

My buddy in high school had an original green dodge demon, skinnys in front, fattys in back. No back seat, just a roll cage and front two seats. He kept a bucket in back in case a third person needed a ride. had the classic chrome "bare feet" shaped foot pedals, and a hurst racing shifter with both traditional H and then you could slide a gate over to side and move the shifter over to become an in-line 1-2-3, I thought that was pretty cool feature. When he first picked it up, it still had chute bags off the back bumper and wheely bars. He removed all of that and found a local mechanic to get it back to street legal (lights, better brakes, etc.)
He could never keep that thing fed, loved to drink gas faster than the poor kid could put it in. That tire arrangement and posi rear end were something else on the few times he took it on gravel roads (we were probably heading to some party on a backroad nearby), especially if he tried to get on it going around a corner. It was definitely not built for those roads. But on a good flat and straight highway, it was a lot of fun when he got on it. I just remember the engine sounded so cool when it was finally warmed up (which took a bit...and he couldn't hardly start it at all in our cold Nebraska winters). In summer had a lot of fun riding around with him in that thing. It had so many stickers in back and rear side windows you couldn't hardly see out of it. It was so loud when you rode in it too, we had to talk very loudly so we could hear each other, and we were sitting right next to each other.
Oh the memories from the early 1980s riding in my buddy's used demon...and it was his school car.
Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
