Ok, thanks for explaining. I wasn't aware, until this thread, that there was such a thing as carp that proved to be sterile.

A pond near me got stocked with bluegill that were supposed to be sterile, but they weren't.
I think Wi just took the view that they don't trust sterile fish, which is probably why this store only sells the carp at their Iowa stores.

x2 They are VERY common around here. Most farm ponds and most all lakes have them monsters swimming around. We have used them for bait after they escaped the lakes nearby into small creeks...

I was talking to a retired WDNR fish manager. He said 'sterile' carp are not to be trusted. Too big of a risk that a couple non sterile ones will end up in the batch. That seems to be the opinion of the state, too, Wisconsin at least.
