Do they all need to have a grounding rod, or can I just tie the wire straight to the fencer without a ground rod??

I used a 8 ft rod on both mine. Is this electric or solar powered?

Ground it for sure. If your energizer isn’t properly grounded your fence will not be working to it’s full potential.
What are you fencing for? How many jules is your energizer? How many wires ?

Found the Dog has decided try to dig up the plastic Septic Tank Lids !! Apparently, my Dog won't take NO!!! for an answer !! So, I decided to run an electric Fence wire around the area where the Septic Tank is buried. I figure 1 or 2 good zaps from the Fence ought to put a stop to the digging !

Zareba K9 Fence Controller. Not much of a fencer. My old GSP would bite the wire and pull the stakes out of the ground. Gave me a good shock , though.

^ grounding is the most important thing regardless if it is electric or solar powered.

I got some pieces of Copper 1/2 inch Pipe I could use as a Ground. Can't find out how far the ground rod has to be driven into the ground. Is 6 inches enough ? Or, does the ground rod have to be deeper in the ground ?

The deeper the better. If you are a lower spot in the field where this is at install the copper rod in the low spot. It might be wetter there then on a high spot. If the ground is moist is the best also.

6 inches isn't enough for a good ground but again it does depend on soil conditions. Sandy soil is not good for a good for an example.

It's clay soil below the few inches of topsoil.

Snowy is right.
If you can hit moist soil at 3 ft that might be sufficient to teach a dog. Use an insulated tool to see if your wire will snap when you get the metal close. There are of course alternative methods of testing effectiveness before use..........

The better the ground, the hotter the fence. Rebar makes a good ground rod. Two rods are better than one. 5 feet is a good depth. Attach your fence wire with a hose clamp. I like to use insulated wire for the runs from the fencer to ground rod and to the fence enclosure. You can bury those wires. Clean off ends to make connections.

Dogs are sensitive to the zap of an electric fence. It usually doesn’t take much to convince rhem. One screaming yelp and the lesson is learned.

I have a very nice chicken coop where I raise meat chickens. Raccoons, foxes, and coyotes regularly visit. I have raised more than 1,000 birds over 30 years and never lost 1 bird. The reason? I have electric fence wire around the base, around the door and window, and in the open eaves. The total length of all wire is less than 200 feet. I have the wire charged with a fencer that is rated to power 25 miles of fence - so it is HOT HOT HOT!!!

When I grow sweet corn I put 3 strands of wire around it that totals about 2,000 feet. I power that with a 50 mile fence charger. That sometimes kills raccoons and opossums. But I do smear peanut butter on the wire. The dead ones have their mouth clamped on the wire.

Have fun with your fence. Best wishes.

for your purpose if you drive that copper pipe in the ground as deep as you can will be fine . if the ground is dry wet it down around the ground and the fence .We ground the heck out of our permanent fences but we don't go crazy on temporary fence . If you ground it to a steal fence post in moist ground its not the best but I guarantee you cant hold on to it
