I inherited a trap that I found interesting. The only marking that I can see is a swastika on the pan. The man fought in ww2, so I'm sure he brought this back across with him. Anybody know anything about something like this?

Actually that isn't a swastika. It is backwards from a swastika. It is a symbol of good Luck from long before WWII.

Hitler took the old time good luck symbol and reversed the arms to get the swastika.

Your trap is quite valuable and quite rare.

Check on the collector's forum.Long before Hitler, that symbol was used by native Americans and other cultures and had a more peaceful connotation.I don't think it's European at all.

I have seen the symbol in Vietnam on a cemetery building.

Wow, thanks for the responses everyone. Learn something everyday! Since it sounds like this is a collector piece, should I wax it or anything or just leave it alone?

Leave it alone. And keep in mind we have a trap collecting forum.
