Very happy with the finished results. Very loud if you want it to be and user friendly.

I had a lot of interest in people wanting to buy one but only had 1 extra so I got the ok from Paul ,and the T-MAN call will be in the next auction he holds, thanks

They do sound good. Always a crap shoot with a new design, you never know until it's all glued up. I do have a few paperweights from over the years that didn't sound good.

.09 thickness (but that varies from piece to piece)

I do not cut my own slate, sound boards,or strikers. I get them from Brookside Game Calls.
The only thing I make from scratch (solid piece of wood) is the pot itself.

Sad to say when I first started doing these I didn't have the internet so made more than a few duds. Wrong glue,no sound boards,to thick on walls and bottom and to thin on walls and bottom and my personal favorite------ lacquer for the finish. Nothing like lacquer and bug spray to make a sticky situation, what a mess.

Last week at the cabin my buddy and I were looking over box calls and I commented on how most times other peoples calls sound bad when you first try them and we got into the person knowing where the sweet spot is at.

Some people pick up a call and think it's ready to go when a little tuning might make a big difference for the sounds.

Your right about that. I made some for friends of mine about 7 years ago and one of them was trying to use it for about 20 minutes and it sounded like crap. He looked at me and said nice looking call but it doesn't work. So I took it and started making all the clucks, yelps and purrs and he said how did you get that and I said practice but your biggest problem is you need to stop holding it like a pencil.

I said no wonder you only use a box call. Needless to say after about 5 minutes doing it right he was very happy.

(And no I'm not saying pot calls are better than box calls) box calls just seem easier for someone to pick up and start making a decent sounds with. You can't go wrong with a quality box call.
