I've been at a loss to find a truck that meets my needs on the trap line since I gave up my 1992 Toyota. Thing started almost everyday for me for 15 years, and there wasn't too much I even thought about twice going through. Since it died about two years ago I've been through multiple trucks, and I just cannot find one that measures up. I'm not going to buy a new truck and take it out trapping. I'm hard on things. I've got a pretty descent car I drive daily. After all of this chatter I've been looking at this little truck here. I don't know much about them, but it looks like my kind of trapping truck (minus the obnoxious stacks). Anyone know anything about them or what they're worth?

I have 3 D50s and love them for trapping I'd look it over closely check the frame out then go through the gears a few time while letting off of the gas a bit to see if it stays in gear. Sift the transfer case in low and see if that works and the lights that should work when you shift in and out of 4WD. That new head was not cheap if it was a complete head they are over $600 see if that carb is a Weber cab they are the trick for them 2.6 engines, see if it has a posi in the rear or locate one they are a tank with a posi. PM me if you have questions

For trapping they are easy to work out of everything is right there no climbing all day to get what your looking for.

I bought one of those new in 1987, it was one of the best little pickups I've ever owned. Sold it because we needed room for a baby that was on the way. A friend has one for a farm pickup, keep waiting for him to price it but he just won't do it.
They are simple to work on IMO. They are a tough little pickup. I would put it right there with the 1996 Tacoma I had a few years back.

Every bolt on them trucks are plated from the factory! I built 1 truck out of 3 different trucks after flopping a good frame in the driveway and building the truck I wanted for a trapping rig (broke 1 bolt) on the frame. Like said easy to work on plenty of room to work in them.

Lots of tricks you can do to them, they do blow head gaskets but they make replacement head stud kit and a laminated head gaskets that fixes that problem. Go to the mightyram50.net forum for locating parts or if you have questions. Rev the motor with the radiator cop off to see if it blows air out of the cap opening.

Put a header and a Weber carb on to improve the performance on them.

Lookin at the pics I'd say $500 is more like it, the bed is shot and the rocker panels go on them no biggie just a factory defect on the seams. I have most of the parts you need but for what he wants I'd think of it as a parts truck for $500

Wish they still made em. Mine was great....but anything that old can die on the way home, too.
