The whole purpose of the constitution is to limit government authority. If we continue to give away bits and pieces what will our grandkids inherit? What about their grandkids? Don't we owe it to the people who gave us our constitution to protect it?

Pointing out the TRUTH that some gun rights organizations actually believe in the concept of reasonable gun control is not a bad thing. Its just pointing out the truth. I don't get why some people get angry when that truth is pointed out.

Yes, Lawdog, you can still buy and own all those things *certain exceptions apply. However, is that ultimate question we should be asking? If we can own this, after doing x,y and z? Is that what you think the 2nd amendment means when it says shall not be infringed? That as long as it is POSSIBLE to own a gun, after any number of egregious perversions one may have to through in order to be allowed the right,oops, I mean privilege to have a firearm, that's good enough? If a $200 dollar tax stamp were to be made for semi auto "assault rifles" today, that $200 in 1934 money in 2018 money would be $3721.87. The only recent gun legislation I have heard of lately was KS has Constitutional carry now! LOL If I have to fill out a form and walk out with a gun the same day so what.

We also made it legal to make and sell suppressors and firearms, in the state of KS, without any paper work or even serial numbers. Guy from Chanute is having problems now in Federal court for doing that. Supposed to be a felony to enforce federal gun law in KS but no feds have been charged. I see the feds are still not enforcing marijuana law though. If states can nullify drug law why not gun law?

I am glad we have constitutional carry here. It should be national. When I leave KS for NE or CO I need permission to carry.

Does anyone else wonder why democrats are constantly trying to pass more gun control, when the signals they receive are that it's obviously o.k. to have SOME form of gun control. They are constantly trying to find other little bits of control that the masses will have a "so what" attitude towards.

The Kansas Senate just passed House Bill 2042. HB 2042 grants reciprocity with all of the states who issue concealed carry permits. Liberal Democrats tried repeatedly to attach hostile anti-gun amendments to the bill. The NRA-ILA was contacting its members for months prior to the passage of this bill urging them to contact their state representatives and to tell them to eliminate the anti-gun amendments. Apparently it worked, as far as I know, only one amendment was attached to the reciprocity bill and it wasn’t hostile. It was an amendment that lowers the age one can apply for a concealed carry permit in Kanas from 21 to 18.

The NRA foundation has donated over 360 million since it was formed in 1990. This helps put guns in the hands of kids who may never get the chance otherwise.

Some also goes to other youth sports/activities such as trapping and 4H groups.

I have a question; This article says that the NRA works for both reciprocity while also supporting constitutional carry. Has the NRA evolved since 1986 when they helped to write the Brady Bill that developed the background check system to begin with? It seems to be a nuanced position to take, having supported background checks and all yknow.

Does the NRA support background checks, whether or not the state has permit to carry or constitutional carry? I admit I may be ignorant as my state has a permit to purchase and a permit to carry or vice versa (maybe both). Regardless, here you need to have walking papers from your betters to either own or carry a concealed pistol. I haven't bought a firearm from a commercial dealer in 15 years.

FWIW I don't get the reciprocity for CC. You can carry here without a permit if you can legally own a firearm and can produce a state I.D. if asked for it while carrying. You don't have to live here. KS recognizes concealed carry is your natural right.
