What is best and why?
What do you use to catch those pups and lock down the very territorial yotes?

What's your favorite lure/baits for this time of year?

Thanks
Ken Smith

You can use the same lure in the summer as you use in fall, Just use less of it in summer heat. Most of my trapping is in warm weather, I use a varity of smells. Lots of the old trappers used 3 or 4 sents per flat set. I use lots of flat sets in summer. South Alabama in summer has lots of fire ants. So i either dig at 4 inch wide 18 inch deep hole = because aint cant clog it up OR I run flat sets. Pups seam to responed well to food lure base lure. Their not good hunter, so food thats easy to get appeals to them. Fresh meats seam to work best for me. I like bobcat meat nontainted. Liquid mice = Clint Locklear . Has worked well for me so far. Fresh is better in heat. I use lots of different brands of Coyote Gland lure as well

I’ve been catching a few with slightly tainted deer meat down a deep dirthole. But it seems to be slowing down for me.

I went out with a fur/nuisance trapper who lives 40 mikes east of me. Since it’s calving time he used “calf cleanings”. It looked like after birth. Anyway, farmers would save it for him and he used it for coyote bait. He said it stinks to high heaven but it works extremely well for him. Considering he’d just set the day before, I got to see 3 coyotes that gave up their hides for a taste of those cleanings!

Like Teacher said it is calving time so use calf cleanings. Look at the time of the year it is and use something that goes along with that. Coyotes almost always go after small rodents like gophers. pd. ground hogs, rabbits. you can't go wrong with any of those. Urine is always good. The answer to you question can be a whole book's worth of information. Why not get a good video?

Urine and gland lure. Buzzards find fresh bait when it starts to rot. I like a food lure. Ask the lure maker if they have any for summer work
