My dogs ride along just for the companionship. None has ever been caught in a trap. The yellow dog got caught in a snare once when he broke from a "sit" command and rushed a snared fox. At the exact second I yelled, "SIT" at him he hit the other snare and almost did a back flip. He looked at me with awe-struck eyes and a new understanding of my power. grin

He hasn't done it since.

Eh...wot?
