A good fresh coyote gland lure is worth it's weight in gold. All season on a scent post at every gang set..

X2 on what trappergbus said, gland lure can be a very important tool for trappers. I think there is a thread or 2 in the archives on gland lure and it's usage.

I agree and also change up with red fox and bobcat gland.Coyote gland is especially important in late Winter/early Spring.

Andy Weisers tainted love is an excellent gland lure.
Yodel dog by fox hollow. Try them on post sets and they will slay the yotes in the warm months

Red fox and mink gland for change up here. Don't know why but bobcat gland doesn't get a reaction here. Tried many but to no avail. Thoughts??

I bought two 4 oz bottles of Bobcat gland lure at Gander mountain 2 years ago Not sure brand and labels are worn off. But were a good change up for me

Yes. gland lure is a good thing at any set. Red fox and mink gland lures have been my main lures for many years. Often the only lure at dirt holes or flat sets. I have some Appleroad BobCat gland lure that seems to nail coyotes. I'll try a jar of Cletis' new Coyote gland lure next season if all goes well.

Tell the truth it may not matter what that stink is, it gets their attention and they have to see. But a good gland lure won't be just glands, some half dozen other stinks are mixed with glands and urine in most. Ambrette Musk, Orris Root Oil, Cummings Oil, Tonquin Musk Oil, Rue Oil, Lovage Oil, Asafoetida Powder are a few of the many additives in various "gland" lures. Getting just enough of each is the secret to a successful lure, I guess.

I agree with all above! I have my favorite lure makers and use their gland lures - RF, coyote, mink and Bobcat...plenty of variety.

I use both straight gland and gland with other stuff in the formula, curiosity kills more than cats....

I don't like burning out good gland lure starting out in the fall. I try to hold it back closer to breeding season when coyote get harder to trap. That's just my way of thinking. Not saying its right or wrong.

Your gland catches all season here, not many do that..

x2 here in mo but I did better early season with them versus later.

A trapper Definately finds out what and when a lure works best for them over time and that becomes confidence when making sets. If a gland lure shines in the early season than by all means hammer down with it. I don't completely steer clear of it early but use it sparingly compared to bait and food lure. Early fall I like it at a walk through with bait on one side and gland on the other

I increase the dosage of gland as the season progresses, not every set gets it but one set per location early then more per location the later it gets. Late season when breeding starts I pour it on, some sets get 2 or three different glands plus droppings and urine to get there attention

I find coyotes (and fox) after Christmas are iffy quality and season closes Jan 31, so starting off like it is a 30 day deal between Thanksgiving and Christmas makes me use all the best or most hopeful sets and lures right from the start.
I speculate that if I was a good trapper by the third week they should most all be caught anyhow, and if I'm not so good more days won't produce much more fur anyhow.
All sets after Christmas aimed at cats, which I'm told don't prime here til after season.

I use Andy's Red Fox Gland and Bob Jamison's Red Devil RF Gland AND both their Bob Cat Gland at many locations - I feel there's enough variety between these 4 lures to keep things interesting - last season I upped the BC Gland lure usage and was surprised how good it worked...especially on the hot locations - I use these 4 lures all season and happy!
