Haven't grown that particular pepper, but if they are anything like jalapeno, cayenne,or banana peppers, they are easy to grow and make like crazy in a good raised bed. The main problem I have is figuring out what to do with all the peppers.

Never grown that one but I do know habenero types are extremely difficult to get going from seed.

I had no trouble growing ghost peppers. Eating them was a different story!

For the hard to start ones I soak the seed in peroxide for a day prior then start them in medium that doesn't have peat and keep them on a heat mat under cover.

I have always bought transplants when growing peppers. I have started most everything else from seed at one time or another.

What does the peroxide do to aid in the process of getting seed up warrior? First I have heard of it. I have had issues with tomato seed in the past. Would it be beneficial with those?

All I can say is WHY!!

Why do you want to grow them?

Looking for that napalm feeling in the morning after you ate them?

I really don't know other than I learned it from the web. I assume either some sort of scarifying or sanitation process. Scarify because wild peppers are spread by birds and pass through the gut or sanitation to avoid damping off.

Tomato usually comes up just fine but damps off easily just after. I avoid that by getting the dome/cover off the flat as soon as the first ones peek through and getting a small fan on them to keep the air moving.

haven't grown that pepper but most peppers are very hardy and hot ones generally drought tolerant

if you want more or the fruit starts to collapse and get black from the blossom end use Yield boost or stop rot they are both calcium supplements and give greater fruit and growth.

if the peppers crack they got dry and then got moisture again and split , try and keep more regular moisture.

Easy to grow here. If they are watered often they do not mature out as hot as if grown in dry conditions. That's been my experience.

I prefer Hungarian wax hot over the scoble (spelling) scale busters.

Last year Rural King had best plants around.

Beaver Dam as in Beaver Dam Wisconsin is one of my favorite varieties of Hungarian wax peppers mild to medium it is all the heat I need

there are also a few varieties of sweet Italian frying peppers that are very good and mild enough for me

The Bhut ghost is hot, hot!

I've had them before. 2 years ago.

Once they are ready put them in 4 " pots. Gently fertilz. Water gently.

Once they get 8-10" tall, trim the leaves.

Plant.

Take care as usual!

i've grown jalapeno and habanero (once) as transplants and they are always the most prolific thing in the garden.

Is it true that you need to handle the Ghost peppers with gloves , because the juice in the Pepper can burn the skin ?

Very tricky to grow from seed.

AS far as gloves, it depends. If you're just picking up and putting down, it's not a big deal. If you're slicing them and doing a lot of handling, then yes, you need to.

Canvasback2; Yes, those are the reapers. My wife has grown them the last couple years. They are pretty tasty for the first 5-10 seconds. Then it is beer chugging time for the next half hour.

The only problem I have had with not wearing gloves when cutting them has been when I went to the bathroom. Doesn't matter how many times you washed your hands, IT'S GONNA BURN!

Jerry Jr.

EDIT; To be clear I wasn't talking about your hands burning.

If you rub it really fast, the burning won't be as bad. Or you wont mind it as much. Not sure which.

Don't think you can kill a hot pepper plant short of digging it up.

I know if I feel a stomach virus coming on, I indulge in a batch of Hot Salsa and it knocks it out before it gets going. Knock on wood, I haven't got sick enough to throw up in over 30 years!

They aren't hard to grow. I usually have 25 or 30 plants of various peppers. I kept 2 Carolina reapers, a chocolate scorpion, and a Trinidad scorpion over the winter this year. The hotter peppers take longer to mature so it's nice to know I'll have peppers early this year. I make all kinds of stuff with them from relish to smoked pepper powder. A little goes a long way. Here is a day's haul from last summer.

I have grown the ghost peppers from seed. I started them in march indoors and ended up digging them and potting them to bring them indoors at the end of season because they needed another 2 weeks to fully rippen. I saw fleet farm had them here already about 10" tall. They were to much heat for me to enjoy. Out of 8 that I tansfered into the garden only 2 grew well. We have a bit cooler climate here though because of lake michigan.

They (superhots)are not hard to grow, but you need to start them indoors early (Feb here) or the plants won't get enough heat units when they are ready to fruit and you will miss a lot of production.
Start seeds with bottom heat and get under lights as soon as they sprout.
They grow well in 3 gallon pots with soilless medium.

Just happy to be here.

Can they be grown from start to finish indoors?

They do well indoors with a proper setup. You would need some decent grow lights and a fan for a plant or 2...more than that and you'll want to look into a serious hydro setup.
There are entire forums and FB groupsdedicated to indoor growing of superhots.

Just happy to be here.

I think hot peppers help with joint pain. At least it gets your mind off the daily routine of life. Plus you can save money by not buying hot sauce. Some hot sauce is stinking expensive.
