40 percent @ 14.00 is no indication of an improving market.

Yes wild mink is starting to shine. The clearance is no surprise for mink at a may sale.100% of mine sold in feb at just under a $20 avg at NAFA.Much better than last couple years.
Considering what the ranch mink and otter are selling for,$14 for a wild mink in may is very good in this market.
What is interesting about the wild mink is that the prices have been creeping up for a while now,and not just a one sale peak then back down.
If you really want perspective on mink, look at the avg for beaver and the work involved compared to a mink in this market.

With that logic coon must be starting to shine, too.

One thing about mink is harvest time is everything. Most mink are going down hill in January, they get very brown and woolly which effects averages.

Think that depends on your location. Trap all my mink in March and although I only sent one in this year it graded select. Had quite a few more I could have sent but kept them back to tan.

You can still get a few that are good, thats the way it goes with all furbearers. If you trapped a bunch late, the majority would be overprime and not the best.

Our mink season closes Feb. 15., but I tend to get the bulk of them mid-December through mid-January, and generally grade very well. That said, I haven't made a deliberate set for mink in two seasons now. Can't hardly give them away, and have my best incidentals heading to their 3'rd auction.

Just doing what I want now.
