Otherwise plan on Chattanooga though be advised the run up and over Monteagle can be rather tiring as it's a twisty climb and descent. Via I24? Downtown Nashville seems pretty cool. What part of GA are you in?

I'm 40 miles south of Atlanta in Spalding county. Two miles due south of Atlanta Motor Speedway. You're over on your PMs. We'll be staying in Monroe and my 13 year old nephew from Palm Beach is meeting us there. Any public land near by we can tramp around on that you know of?

A great place for breakfast is The Loveless Cafe on the west side of Nashville just a few miles south of I-40. From there you can avoid the Nashville traffic if you want and go through Franklin,TN. A very historic town, lots of Civil War history, lots of country music connections. The you have options to easily get on I-24 and continue on towards Chattanooga. 840 is your friend!!

Cleared out space.
Close to Monroe is our DNR HQ in Social Circle. They have a public dove field there. Joe Elliot WMA is just south of that. Fishing and hiking trails there. To the east is Hard Labor Creek State Park and further east is Oconee National Forest. If you go an hour north you have Tallulah Gorge and Falls. Lots of stuff north of Monroe since it's mostly all national forest up in the mountains. Some good stocked trout fishinge in the mountains. Thanks. Ill check out the dove field. I think Hard Labor is real close. The Shoals are next to the "homestead" but I think thats more of a park.

Got a late start so Nashville it is. I looked up Loveless. Looks like a cool place for our family. We'll be stopping there. Greatly appreciate the recommendation.

Knew it would be bad on the traffic. Try Atlanta the traffic better there, lol. I was hauling a load of fur to Va. years ago and hit Atlanta right at five PM. If there a He.. on earth I found it that day' My brother inlaw hit Atlanta about 3pm yesterday and said that it took him 2 hours to get 30 miles.
