Alright, we are supposed to get 4-8” over the next several days. Would I be better off pulling my traps or leaving them to get exposed. And I’m fairly positive they will be exposed due to the soil. I don’t mind checking them in the rain I just don’t know if I’d be better off just waiting until the tropical storm passes. Anyone else dealt or deals with this?

Peat moss is a lifesaver

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Cover the traps with a harrow or disc, or even just a lid from a 5 gal bucket and a rock on top.

Asphalt singles work well. Toss a half a shingle over the set and your good to go.

Peat moss Is good but If your covering It with dirt to blend In your set your still going to end up with an exposed trap. But It's a good start haul In some dry dirt after the rain and re cover the moss.
But taking care of the situation before the rain Is the better option.

Thanks giys, I reset all my traps this morning using peat moss in the bed and covering hoping all the cracks are filled in. Would rather figure this out now before Winter when hopefully everything gets better as far as coyotes are concerned.

Grass clippings and wire screen. When your mowing do rows like your cutting hay and go back over the cuttings to make them a lil finer

If you want some great trap covering just get up on top of those chopper boxes come august. You can collect all the dried alpha you need.

Or just gather up the leavings around the silo unloader.

But the lawn clipping will work to.

But none of It will shed rain.

Wax dirt Is still the trappers best friend.

Last November to cope with freeze/thaw and muddy ground I covered my coyote traps with aluminum screen pan covers and just enough grass strands to breakup trap outline. The coyotes didn't seem to care. I used grass that grew nearby. To support the grass I let pan covers extent out about 1/8" over top of trap jaws (knowing that with an animal foot on pan trap jaws would clear flexible pan covers). I left small holes under traps to drain small amountds of water.
