what other way can you remove wax than boiling? thanks

If you have enough traps rent one. The longer you let it in there, it will take off waxs and dye to bare metal.

I have read that you can leave the traps on an ant hill. I have not tried that.

I bought the small cement mixer from Harbor Freight. If you will do this yearly it is a small investment. Use a 20% coupon(you can google one on your phone ) and you can show the cashier. $169.99 - 20% = $135.99. Once in a while you can get a 25% coupon. This is the small mixer and works well. I use black diamond blasting media.

I tried the cement mixer on speed dipped traps. I used sand and left them in there for about 45 minutes. They looked about the same when I took them out. Guessing the sand isn't the best thing to use?

Well they do make a commercial wax stripper they use on floors to remove wax. But I don't know If It would work on traps.
But I know one thing for Shure I'm not going out and buying a cement mixer to do It. LOL

I have never found a reason to want to remove the wax, the wax is there to help preserve the trap.

not hard to improvise a dead (broken heat element) clothes dryer...just like ya make a fur tumbler, duct tape the holes shut.

Well for the most part If you make any catches most of the wax will be gone. Then just power wash dry and re wax.

What kind of traps are we talking about and what are you going to use them for?

these are #4 Victor long springs going to use them to catch some Nutria on my land and I just like painted over waxed

Since you need to clean them well enough to paint,I'd definitely boil them in lye or some type of drain cleaner.Just boiling in water won't cut it.I don't have any experience with commercial wax strippers.There may be something there that would work.

Boiling in plain water will absolutely work to get the wax off ! The trick is to leave the traps sit until the water cools and the wax gets hard on top . Then you can remove the wax then the traps from the water.

I take mine to the local co-op and use their hot water power washer to get the wax off. Helps to have friends in low places.

I prefer paint too, but when I buy used traps that are waxed, I just use them until the wax is worn off, then hot pressure wash at the car wash before dipping again.

For trapping nutes I don't think It matters.
