Looking at buying a new compact easy to conceal pistol this weekend... what does everyone prefer the smith and Wesson shield or the glock 43?? I know they are almost identical ... just wondering why you would prefer one over the other ?

I like the Glock 43. Bought after buying the never ending jamming of the Beretta Nano.

I bought the shield in 9mm. I'm happy with it. Doesn't jam and goes bang. Nothing against glocks just bought the shield instead.

Don't do anything you don't want to explain to the paramedics. I do appreciate a good story tho.

Ive owned both and now only the shield. The shield just fits better for me. After replacing the factory trigger with an Apex kit it shoots incredible.

Hey Billkil1187 , I live in Sugar Grove! Anyway I own the 43 and it has become my EDC. I was a Glock hater until I bought this for my wife, and now I need to buy her another.

I've carried the glock 43 since they came out. I own six glocks. I tried the sig sauer p365 and thats what I carry now. Its just a little smaller than the 43 and has ten round factory mags. I ordered two 12 round mags from sig after I got it. I put extended mag floor plates on my 43 mags for plus one capacity. If you go glock I would recommend the floor plates for plus one, they are easy to install. The sig has steel mags. Sig got the mags right on this gun. Glock or Sig would be my choice I never could get used to the trigger on a smith.

My wife and I both carry Performance Center Shields .40 for concealed. I like it a lot but like every Glock I’ve carried or shot also. I know it’s not much help but I’d carry either. I’d shoot both and see what fit me best. The one thing I don’t like about my shield is the thumb safety.

My dad has a .40 shield. He is left handed so he bought the safetyless model.

Most folks like that pistol without an external thumb safety. The Shield is a good gun, so is the Glock. I’ve shot both and like them.

OP, my suggestion is to try both and pick the one you like best. Personally, I would say to add the Springfield XDS to your list of pistols to try.

Just bought the 43 for my son (21st Birthday) and he loves it...and can shoot it with accuracy too. I wouldn’t want to be across from him if he had to pull it. In fact I’m gonna get me one as well. And before this gun I was not a Glock fan at all. But for concealabilty that Glock seems hard to beat.

Both are good. Get the one that feels best to you.
I like the Ruger LC9s pro for myself.
