New . Will try post pic but not good with tech. Second day in the low 90 s. Have 2 supers with a medium on top.
Looks like at least a third of the hive are attached to the outside. Are they getting ready to swarm or is it a lot of heat.
Thanks

How hot is it there. Hows your ventilation? Might want to crack the lid a bit if you don't have holes in the hive body's. Yeah, a pic would be nice.

You will have swarm cells inside if they are getting ready to swarm.

bee bearding likely as they are warm

solid bottom board?

go through all your boxes and check for queen cells

are all your frames filled out, drawn, capped honey, or is there open brood space for the queen

if you have no queen cells, and open brood space - they are just bearding

Sounds like bearding

Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.

Thanks for the help so far. If they swarm can I use a medium box ? Other option is a super with frames from last year?

You have a strong hive. Not swarm related. Bees are just sitting out on their front porch to escape the heat. They’ll sometimes stay out all night. Festooning is the proper term I think. Screened bottoms can help. I always put a rock about the size of a quarter on top of the inner cover to prop up the outer cover to allow better ventilation.

They got you covered. It's also a sign the nectar flow is tapering off or over. Bunch of idle bees.

Not a lot of nectar as bees been doing it for a week or longer here. Also hot and humid more bees in the hive drive the heat up so they hang around the outside just being bees.

dumb question...... my neighbor just started the bee thing, 1 1/2 bee boxes behind her house. her chicken coop is like 30 yards from the boxes and she lets her chicken run free. also guineas. they circle those boxes like a old western movie during a indian attack. all day long. are they eating the bees?

Guineas will eat bees. Your neighbor will probably lose some bees when they land on flowers in the areas the guineas frequent, it should not be a big problem. A bigger problem would be if the guineas can reach the spot where the bees go in and out of the hives. Privacy fencing can be used to make the bees come out high enough to avoid the guineas.

I set 300 some guinea eggs last night.

Bees collect pollen and nectar throughout a 2 mile or more radius from the hive, so most of the bees won't be low enough to be caught by the guineas, while foraging. Where your neighbor can have a bad issue is where the bees are going in and out of the hives and if the bees have a low flight path, the guineas can reach. She should raise the hives or put a privacy fence around them.

Chickens don't bother bees, at least not more than once lol. Chickens around and under the hives does help combat small hive beetles.
Guineas and turkeys will scarf down every bee they can catch. This is especially troublesome if you trying to get queens mated. Virgin queens fly low when leaving on their mating flights and are slower than workers. Easy targets for guineas and turkeys.
