All I can say is WOW ! As always great pictures and thanks for sharing your trip out with you to the cabin. Those are some nice looking horns your finding lots of knife and ulu handles there. Or business card holders or ???
I hope the rivers and creeks settle down a little by the western we have high water levels all over the state at the moment.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon ! Stay Safe out there !

Those miners launched from my driveway around the end of March. I guess they found zinc out there, they are verifying there is enough to start a real mine. Had a cat train, a couple d6 and a couple big sleds and a couple connexs on skis. A guy I know used his nodwell to help get the stuff out there. Progress, I guess, but always a drag when there is more traffic over a guy's line. Had some chagga hunters running my trail at the end of the season, made for some rough riding.

Love that flipped Rhino. Usually the fat guy ends up crushing the driver when it flips on his side.

If I couldn't live my life I think I might pick yours. keep it up AK!

Hey guys. Made it back from the NTA Western Regional. What awesome time with some great people in some spectacular country. Really proud of the volunteer participation from the Montana Trappers Association during the expo. Awesome job guys and gals. Watched some well done trapping seminars and met a bunch of vendors. Even won a new rifle from Furbearer Unlimited. (6.5 Creedmore) That being said.. the best time I had was covering some new country and taking pics of some really cool country and critters. Guess that's just who I am.

Bighorn Sheep was my main goal and did really well with this monster ram. That 9000 foot elevation is a bit much for this lowlander though.

Lots of country and lots of wildlife

Spent a bit of time with this den of fox pups. 7 pups in the den but hard to get them all out at the same time. Watched them from a distance before going in to shoot pics.

As always great pictures and it was great to finally get to meet you in person. They're still talking about your demo on wolves and trapping your area.
I need to start buying lottery tickets so I can hopefully get up to Alaska for the fling some day.

Thanks guys, the pleasure was definitely mine. I think we ought to have a Rendezvous up here like they do down south and not during trapping season. Just a great time all around.

I did have to mail some stuff home Pete and had an extra bag and gun case from when I went down. Bought a few new traps for the collection and a bunch of other stuff at the Expo. I'd a left all those traps in trade for some chokecherry syrup. Allan do not send that syrup to me if intended for the Fling. I am not to be trusted with such sweet goodness. Just being honest.. I got the traps in the mail that I mailed on Wednesday from Bozeman. Pretty fast. Back to putting together some #9's and heading out to work on the cabins next week.

Sure thing JR, I'm waiting for this year's crop before buying more syrup just in case it settles to much in the bottle. The high for today is in the mid 80's way to warm for this time of the year.

Happy summer fellow trappers. Just got back from a 10 day vacation in the mountains working on the new cabin. Got all I could do with the materials I had on hand. Weather was awesome and cooperated well. Got all the metal siding on minus the corner trim which I didn't have yet, new windows installed and interior painted. Need some new stove pipe and a oval shaped 6" 90 degree bend for the back of the new wood stove. There was a new 1979 Franklin "Scandia" 150 in the box at the other cabin. I hauled it up to replace the tent stove in this cabin.

The view out of the front of this place is pretty sweet.

Recycled a little wood from the old cabins for window trim and a shelf. Amazing how clear and straight the old wood is.
The river crossings were a bit of a pain at times and got washed downstream a time or two which gets a bit exciting. Got the belt wet in the Rhino and had to winch out. The warm weather melt off from high in the mountains really fluctuated the water levels. It would be fine early in the morn but by noon it would be almost impassible.

Found these under the cabin but haven't a clue what they'd be for. Any Ideas?

Got a little work to do on the sauna and she'll be work wise.
Found these aspirin under the bed.
Could have used them after this 5 minute face cramp I had going. Little dehydrated but one of my new normals in life
Be heading back out to finish up the Sheep cabin and work on the outfitters cabin. Not much of a carpenter but have the work ethic and enjoy the heck out of building and improving camps. Just takes me a little longer than most.
This is a picture of a griz that a friend of mine from South Dakota got just off of my trapline. A true giant of an interior griz and a lucky hunter. We'd never seen this bear or gotten him on a camera.

As always thank you for taking us along JR the views rival Montana. The wild ride down stream I don't think you need to do again for awhile.
Darn nice bear that's one worthy of the record books !
Stay Safe out there !!!!
