Well, I am considering a couple of new purchases. I can afford a new Tacoma and a 3-4K boat, or a used truck and a newer $8-10K boat. Thinking a 16-17' Lund with a 40-60 hp motor. What do y'all think makes more sense?

Well, that's what I'm saying. Which one makes more sense if you have 40K to spend?

Boat will hold value longer than the pick up.

I bought a new pickup. Two years later it had "depreciated" 50%. I'd buy a 2 yr old pickup and a used boat. You use the pickup every day year round. The boat, not so much.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

At times I miss my Skeeter but don't miss the $1,184 yearly taxes.

I think yout transportation needs should be met first. But, for me, a boat is also needed. Think it over and you will do the right thing.

Hence, the dilemma, these Toyotas seem to hold value like a fishen boat. I'm leaning towards the new truck and cheap boat for a couple years, then upgrading the boat. I suspect, I will be spending much more time in the truck than the boat for the next couple of years. On the other hand, if someone knows where I can get a low miles Tacoma cheap, I'm all ears!

Let some other fool take the hit on the truck when it's driven off the lot. You can pick up one to two year old trucks still under warranty from fools.
The boat ain't nothing but a hole in the water you throw your cash into. So buy a used but solid hull and use that cash to build it your way

BTW the truck will make you money even if it's just driving to work. The boat won't unless you live on an island or fish for a living (something I don't recommend).

My thoughts are that it is way easier to find a good deal on a newer used boat than a pickup truck. Lots of boats only see the water but a few times a year, depreciate pretty quick and are one of first things to go if a guy is strapped for cash, moving, etc. Tons of used boats for sale in MN. JMO
