Them one hand setters are the cats meow on my Sterlings must be a human effort issue is my guess. A guy needs to sit a look at what he's working with to begin to understand it, heck it took me some time to start using my setters myself! LOL

It's obvious you have some of the old stock traps on the outdated recall. Check the serial number on each trap and see if it starts with o s. If they don't have serial numbers then you certainly do have the recalls.
Shame If so. You can sell them maybe for parts, and heck I could use some parts so this one time I could help you out for 11 no 12 dollars apiece but you'd have to pay the shipping. Happy to help.

Hard to say. I've found the 650's to be consistent and excellent. Agreed. And I don't get the setter thing. Step on them.

One heck of a coyote trap, I also set them for beaver you'll get use to setting them, I had to clean the night latch out a little on my last dozen of 650cast my IL I ordered came ready... The factory recall guy is BSn you, I raise the bid to 13$ if your taken him seriously...

Does the tab or jaw hold down that is on the jaw rubbing or hitting the hitting something on the way down. If so sand or buff that part and problem solved.
