Repainting the living room. What is a good brand name semi gloss interior latex that is sold either at Lowes or Home Depot? I have used Behr from Home Depot before and it sucked. I'll never use it again. It took three coats to cover white on white! Horrible paint.
I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.

x2 on Glidden. Dulux is owned by same company and would be comparable. I used to work for Glidden at their pro store.
I agree that Behr paint is not the best. A bunch of other high quality options though.
PPG was always a good brand also.
If you are looking for good "hiding" capability, ask the person at the paint service desk. Typically, you want a lighter color that is mixed with "white" paint... you don't want any mixing "bases". The reason for this is that paint's coverage ability is a function of the amount of titanium dioxide in the paint... when a darker color is desired, a "base" is required whereby some of the TiOx is removed to make room for the tinting pigment.
I have seen before where inexperienced sales people will sell someone who is looking for "white" paint a "white base"... this will result in very poor coverage LOL.
Hope that helps.
Just happy to be here.

Go to a PAINT STORE! Not a home improvement store. The "paint professional" that you ask questions to at Home Depot or Lowe's was in garden supplies yesterday and lumber the day before. I've painted for 18 years, ran my own company for 5 years and will only buy paint from Sherwin Williams, PPG and Benny Moore (in that order). And I WOULD NOT recommend flat paint (the sheen) for walls. Touches up easy, but gets messed up easy too. I would use an eg-shell, myself.

I remodeled my entire place 2 years ago, painted every surface to be painted. I started with the Sherwin Williams HGTV paint sold at lowes. wasnt very happy with it...
I used a bit of the Valspar Signature? whatever the most expensive paint was and I was happy with the way it went on and covered.
Luckily I had someone spray my ceilings, when he stopped by the next day to check on the job, i was painting a wall and I asked him for tips on painting...
He took the roller, put about half a gallon of paint on it, flopped it on the wall and painted a 4' section floor to 9' ceiling in about 20 seconds....
my first thought was "my dad would have killed me if i ever put that much paint on a roller..." then again, he wasn't a professional, mexican painter.....
it went so much faster after that, and it came out better....
for all the trim, sills and doors I used Benjamin Moore Advance. its not the easiest paint to lay on without streaks, but once you get it down, it isnt too bad.
and its almost indestructible. my 4yo smashes into the baseboard with his toys and it hasn't chipped off, the doors and trim wipe clean with a damp towel, ive been very impressed.
I'll take wolves over idiots any day.

I use a lot of Pro Mar 200 and love it (my go to for interior eg-shell). The 400 is too thin. It is a cheap "contractor grade" made for apartment painting, where the surface gets repainted every couple of months. Adam M- the "paint and primer in one" is a scam. If you have a surface that needs a primer, put a coat of primer on it, then two coats of a finish. Same thing with all the so called "one coat coverage" paints. One coat doesn't give you the durability.

Just repainted interior. Used Sherwin Williams best grade. Costs a little more. Went from white to gray. Primer plus two coats. Some was on new sheetrock. Painted about 2000 feet. Ceilings painted white as is trim.

PPG from a professional paint store ( Packard Paint ........3 locations near you )
Like Ditchdiver says ........"eggshell" sheen
Unless your hosing it down I would not use semi gloss
I spend 12 to 15 thousand every month on paint and can't stomach the morons at Home Depot , lowes , or even sherwin Williams .
