Almost 2# smooth face big brother to Danny's https://www.homedepot.com/p/Estwing-30-o..._-203075865-_-N

The other thing is 3/4" or 1" iron pipe can be fitted and brazed into what ever hammer you have broke the handle out of.

I have 2 2Lb wooden handled hammers that I adapted myself. I prefer a wood handle over that of a metal handled hammer. They are just more comfortable to use.

Before season I place the hammer In a bucket of water and that will swell up the handle so It's good and tight. Those 2 hammers are 20 years old and are still preforming like the day I bought them.

near indestructible. claws dig beds, pull stakes along with other uses you'll find

I grind the face smooth. doesn't take much. a file to smooth it up a bit would work also

I use the 28oz milled face eastwing strait claw, I used a grinder to open up the claw a bit at the end as I use 3/8 rebar stakes with 1/2 inch nuts , opening it up just a bit near the end makes it a good stake puller also.

they make them with flat faces so that you don't need to grind the face.

I left mine milled face if it mars my stakes I don't worry , because when I am not trapping with it I will be driving nails or many other striking tasks.
I bought it when I was roofing and trapping is jus tone more use for the tool.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I used a grinder to open up the slot on one of my wreaking bars so I could pull stakes. The first stake I tried to pull broke off one of the ears. Won't be trying that again.

I did that to my bar several years back. Works well in pulling those 24" metal stakes that seem impossible to pull otherwise. I usually carry a small 2x4 and 4x4 to get more leverage on the stake the higher it gets out of the ground.

I just bought an old time bumper jack. And then I had a piece of metal key holed and slotted. I have 5 links of chain attached to It. Now I can just drop the metal piece over the stake washer and pull It into the slot hook the chain to the jack and pull the stake.

Great idea. Got me thinking about modifying a trailer Jack by adding a base. Would be light. I can get one for $25.00 at HF. Thanks Beav

Have used a bunch of them...wooden handles eventually fractured but worked for years. Use the Freedom Brand hammer and a few others now. But.... I see Rednecktrapper's works of art and what ever he makes is GOOOOD!

By far, the best trapping hammer I ever owned, was the O’gormans high rolling hammer. Wished he still sold them
