I have been very lax in doing home improvements but they do need to be done. I like to do my outdoor activities and I spend to much time at the ranch doing improvements and not on the house. Well a few weeks ago I got started so I can get them done. I got a vary large window replaced, I cut some venting in on the roof, I filled cracks in the driveway, did some painting, fixed and replaced some sprinkler heads and put a new porch/step on the house. As I stroll around the shack I can see I have some other things that need attention and will try to get them done. I really have a hard time getting motivated to do home repairs. LOL Lets see your home improvement projects.

Here is the porch I did in a few evenings and part of one day.

At my age and with my knee, I would need a hand rail on my porch steps. Code and/or homeowner insurance might dictate a porch railing also. Depends on heignt of porch. A ladies high heel could hang in your steps.

Nice looking though.

I am going to do a post rail just need to get to a big town to get supply's sometime. I have never had a rail on the old porch step since I built the home 35 years ago. LOL The insurance company has never said anything but i know of one home owner that had to install one because of insurance reasons. The deck of the porch is 16" from the grass but yes it should most likely need a rail.

If the girls get caught in the cracks with high heels that would be a good thing. Then I could catch them LOL

I just checked on code and insurance and a porch less then 30 " off of the ground doesn't need a rail. That is why most likely I have not been told to install one.

Thanks

Lately it's more time consuming and difficult to do projects/ repairs but they will get done.
Few months ago I built a new fence. The wife wanted raised garden beds so I did those too. She wanted the backyard Relandscaped with mainly gravel and wanted a rose bed in the front yard. shoveling gravel took a quick toll on me so did most of that. Had to prune the mulberry.

A trip to the Casino and prime rib dinner is the standard here for about any occasion she loves it.

Backyard. Built the boxes haven't filed in or planted. frown the bare dirt area in the corner is going to have a fire pit sitting area, waterfall and possibly the grill. But first the tree needs to go and need to stucco the entire backyard walls.

Front yard rose bed. She had 7 rose bushes but a few died.

Swingset/play area is done.
I took some of the topsoil I removed and used it to fill in some low spots in the yard. Working on growing some new grass in those.
And the kitchen still needs the backsplash, rangehood, new light over sink, and trim work. But all the cabinets were stripped and repainted/new hardware installed. Maybe new counter top if the budget allows.
