We have enough things on planet Earth to fix. But what the heck, lets just blow some more tax money. In warfare, you want to hold the high ground. Space is the high ground. There is also a whole universe's worth of resources and potential places to live, that we will need to protect. Space is the new frontier. Keith

Not really new, it's been there the whole time. America, when it was considered the new frontier, had been there previously too. Space has been mostly unexploited and unsettled by humanity. There may be some really useful animals out there, to trap. Tribbles could be a source of really easy to catch and farm fur.  Keith

A Space Force would be a joke, considering that we don't even have a launch vehicle capable of putting a person into orbit.
We have to beg rides from the Russians, of all countries. Some Space Force, entirely dependent on a national enemy.

Jim What we do not have will change when we have it.......Russia may not be our great national enemy in the first place after all. The eu may be more of a national enemy..... Anyway, probably good to control the area around our planet.....obummer used nasa to make muslims feel better about themselves.

The eu may be more of a national enemy..... I believe the European Union and it's leftist agenda is the greatest threat to the freedom and prosperity of the American people and the people of Europe. Russia and China are not our friends either, but the EU is the one pretending to be friends, while trying to control our politics and robbing us blind with tarriffs and unfair trade policies. The EU helped overthrow the democratically elected government of Ukraine and would like to do the same to President Donald Trump. I hope the European people continue to rise up and throw off the shackles of the EU. Keith Concur and do not forget they are destined to be muslim run fairly soon due to population numbers and birthrates. The only way they can avoid that is to send the muslims packing back to where they came from.

Point is, can't the Army do the same and disband the Marines?
Now I don't want that to happen so don't think I am against the Marines. They are the second most intelligent service.
I think political delusion is fueling some posts on this thread. Its just the Navy Department's land force.
