Thinking of buying a winch for my Ford 150. Never had one. What would I expect to pay for a half decent one. Any suggestions?

$300-$500 for a decent one at the price of a wrecker use it once or twice and it pays for itself!

Get a good one and forget the cheap ones. Went thru several cheap ones before i baught a good one (warn) and i'm still using it .

Cheap ones are good for pulling coon and that's about it.

(I use mine almost weekly and the gears don't hold up in the cheap ones)

I've had a warn winch for 20 years, no issues. Buddy of mine got one from harbor freight, 2nd time he used it there was malfunction. To me, A winch is like a parachute, if your using it, something went wrong...never a good time for it to malfunction.

A Warn winch, a tree strap, a snatch block and clevis ring should be standard equipment. Bought my 12,000 lb Warn in 1985 and can't tell you how many times it has saved the day. I've replaced the motor once, roller fairlead twice and the cable at least five times. Probably the best long term investment I've ever made, not counting my wife. grin
