Looks like a Bluetick hound but could be crossed. If it trees coon, who cares!!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Lots of crosses will produce coloration that looks like purebred blueticks, redticks, walkers, etc. Colors don't matter. All that matters is if it trees coons.

If it trees, it's a coon hound. With that color I'd register it as American English Coonhound.

Looks a lot like mine just lighter

Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.

Unless it has UKC papers it's at best a "grade" blue tick or english which can be a purebred but undocumented as such.

English Coonhounds have minimal color restrictions and can be redtick, bluetick, tricolor, solid white, mostly red or black but not black and tan or solid red, or any combination of the above.

It could be entered into the breed if it passes inspection as such through open registry (if the breed club offers such) but would not be PR registered as a purebred. It takes three generations of registered dogs to gain PR registry.

It could also be one of a few other breeds as well such as a small boned grand bleu gascon or just a bleu gascon. There are a few french breeds that look like blue tick coonhounds as well.

Best coon dog I ever had was 1/2 blue tick and 1/4 black and tan and 1/4 walker. If he trees coon it doesn't matter

If you pulled that thing out of a dog box and told me it was a pure Bluetick I certainly wouldn't question it.

It also could be an English as others have said.

Pure Bluetick or cross it really doesn't matter. If the owner is happy with it that's all that really matters. After all he is the one that has to feed it and take care of it.

Certainly possible, but there are plenty of light colored Blueticks running around out there.

Personally, I kind of like the Blueticks and English dogs that have the light colored "open" face like this dog.
