There is an elderly guy that fishes in one of the ponds around here almost on a day to day basis. I see him in his spot almost every afternoon. Yesterday he went missing. Was last see with his fishing pole. The Sherrif office has organized a search party and they been out looking for him yesterday and today. Its inside a gated community and he lives only a couple of hundred yards from that pond. The thing is, there is another pond across the road that for a few weeks had a big gator in it. I hope the guy did not get into trouble with that gator. Hoping for the best for him.

God Bless. If he drowned, the heat will bring him up in a short time.(unless the gator got him).

Did they find any of his belongings around the pond? Pole, tackle etc.?

It is what it is.

They found him this morning alive. Took him to hospital and no details as of yet. But looks like he made it if the doctors don't kill him now.

He was off the beaten track in the bushes and someone heard him moaning and made his way to him. Apparently it was not easy to get to him. poor guy went missing thursday afternoon and was found this morning. I bet he has more insect bites then craters on the moon. But at least he is alive and can go fishing again once he recovers.

Missing person, 75-year-old James Holub, found this morning in a thick wooded area in Whooping Crane Pond Conservancy.
Approximately 30 minutes ago, a resident on Horseman Lane in Hilton Head Plantation—considered to be part of the Whooping Crane Pond Conservancy—heard moans coming from a thick wooded area. Hilton Head Plantation Security and Sheriff's Office deputies were notified and responded to the area of where the resident heard the moans and, after pushing their way through the thick brush, found 75-year-old James Holub, who had been missing since Thursday afternoon. Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue paramedics responded and have since transported Mr. Holub to the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Mr. Holub's family and friends appreciate the outpour of concern from the community throughout this ordeal. We wish Mr. Holub a speedy recovery.

Thank you for your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
